#IDzinechat was created with the concept of helping consumers with their ever-burning questions about any topic related to interior design. A bevy of design professionals, through the encouragement of Leslie Carothers, (a social media expert in the home furnishings’ field), decided to come together to offer the gift of their time and knowledge. This gift has no expectation for financial compensation. It is the design professionals’ hope, an educated consumer will be more at ease, should the occasion present itself to engage with an industry expert for the best solutions. No one should have to go this alone!

It’s an honor and a privilege, to have a well-known, Texas-based, interior designer, Shay Geyer, to offer her time to our group as the next host for #IDzinechat. Shay will be moderating the discussion, with some lead-in questions, but the conversations will not be limited to just those. We hope it will get the cogwheels turning for a lively discussion and we are so excited to have her on board.
Here is an introduction to Shay Geyer – our “Designer Detective”:
Growing up with a mother who is one of the country's most sought after interior designers, Shay developed a natural flair for design by studying IBB Design Fine Furnishings founder, (also her mother), Beth Rafferty.
Designing professionally since 2001, she considers her design style to be traditional, with clean lines and a comfortable feeling, and with a touch of glamour. Her work has been published in several magazines, including her monthly editorial feature in “ON Magazine”. Shay’s goal, in design, is to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the unique, personal taste and lifestyle of each client. Her passion for home furnishings and creativity has landed her many celebrity clients as well as projects that span the country. Her unique style and ability to forecast design trends, awarded her the position of design expert for Good Morning Texas. She has been a part of the show since 2006.
Due to the popularity of her “Good Morning Texas” design segments, Shay launched the Designer Detective blog, in 2008, as a way to interact with the viewers. The popular design blog, offering design tips and trends, now has a worldwide following. Shay has embraced the social media phenomenon as a way to market and showcase her family’s business, as well as to learn from and network with other designers and clients. She has served on several social media panels, including Kravet’s social media tour. As a woman who loves to throw a party, Shay connected with Global Views to host a Tweetup for April 2010’s High Point Home Furnishings market. She has big plans for a fall Tweetup to be announced, soon! Shay is married to wonderful man, named Brian, has a beautiful 5 ½ year old princess named Jaylie, and a boxer named Sassy. Family, church, and giving back to the community are high on her priority list. She is involved in several charitable organizations, including: the Junior League of Dallas, Genesis Women’s Shelter, The Family Place Partner’s Auxiliary, The Elan Circle of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and is a founding member of STAR Children’s Charities.
